Keepers at Home
"But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine: ....The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things: That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet , chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed." Titus 2:1, 3-4

This scripture seems to go against what a lot of Christian women are being taught in the church today: that the word of God is inerrant except in the scriptures concerning women...women should have a career, be able to do all the things a man could do.  While I believe that women are able to do a lot of things that men can do,  that is not what God wants us to do...he made us different because we have a different purpose in life than men.  This scripture says that this is sound doctrine: that we are to be Keepers at Home, to be discreet, obedient to our own husbands... and ends with:"that the Word of God be not blasphemed" .  Sadly in these times..the Word of God is being blasphemed, but if we believe that God's Word is inerrant in all the scriptures, we need to start taking him at his word at Come Home!

Here are some books that talk more on this topic:

Created to be His Helpmeet by Debi Pearl
Me? Obey Him? by Elizabeth Rice Hanford
Let Me Be A Woman by Elisabeth Elliot
The Gentle Ways of the Beatiful Woman by Anne Ortlund

Here are some books to help us with the physical aspect of being Keepers at Home:

The Queen of Clean by Linda Cobb
Talking Dirty Laundry with the Queen of Clean by Linda Cobb
Sink Reflections by Marla Cilley
How not to be a Messie by Sandra Felton
Speed Cleaning 101 by Laura Dellutri

Child Training

I am not a pro in this area, despite being the mother of 4 children.  One thing I am terrible on is consistency...both in disciplining and have a joyful attitude...the two most important areas in child training.  I have however come across some great advice and sites, that I would like to share with others.

One thing that you need to remember when reading any book besides the Bible is to "eat the meat and spit out the bones".  Don't give up on a book just because you disagree with one or two things in there, but whatever you do...be sure to compare everything in the light of scripture.

Some books that have had an impact on my life in the area of child training are:

Shepherding Your Child's Heart by Tedd Tripp
To Train Up a Child by Michael and Debi Pearl
Homeschooling with a Meek and Quiet Spirit by Teri Maxwell
Keeping Your Child's Heart by Steve and Teri Maxwell
Teach Them Diligently by Lou Priolo

These two, I havent read but they are on my wishlist:

For Instructions In Righteousness by Doorposts
The Heart of Anger by Lou Priolo

Doorposts also has some great charts like the "If-Then Chart" !
